As we reach the end of a busy term I would like to thank all our families and school community for your ongoing support. This school really is a special place to be and our children continue to make us proud. This was particularly evident yesterday when we took the whole of Key Stage 2 to the care home for an egg hunt. The children were so kind and polite to the residents; engaging in their chat, writing Easter messages and entertaining them with more songs. Although we got soaked by the rain on the way back to school, the children all came back with smiles on their faces and eggs in their pockets! Thanks to all at the John Masefield House for making us so welcome.

Hedgehog and Squirrel Class enjoyed a celebration yesterday as they approach the end of their Castles topic. They were invited to Prince Charming's Ball in the hall where they were treated to some fizz, crisps and cookies. They also learned how to waltz and took their partners for a spin around the dance floor as though they were on Strictly Come Dancing; subjecting themselves to some rather harsh judging! They played games and dressed up in their smart clothes. It was a joyous afternoon with lots of laughter.

They’ve been excitedly sharing their knowledge with me and the penguins they’ve made with cardboard tubes are super cute.

Another week has flown by and the children at Dorchester St Birinus continue to amaze us with their compassionate attitudes and positivity.
Music and mud!

We have loved seeing all the children back in school this week after the half term break. Key Stage 2 enjoyed a trip to the Royal Festival Hall in London on Wednesday where they experienced a concert performed by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. They were also excited to cross Waterloo Bridge on the coach and see the Houses of Parliament, the London Eye and various other famous sights on the way in and out of London. They were a credit to our school as they walked along the South Bank and their behaviour throughout the day was brilliant.
