Thumbs up for Dorchester Festival!
Firstly, I want to say a big thank you to all the children and adults who came last Saturday to help paint the giant thumbs up sign for the Dorchester Festival Art Installation. There was a lovely friendly atmosphere and visitors to the school commented on how polite and caring the children were with one another.
I would also like to extend our thanks to one of our parents, Frances, who co-ordinated the whole event brilliantly. We’re really looking forward to seeing our art work around the village during the festival.
We have had another busy week here at Dorchester St Birinus. On Wednesday we had taster sessions from the Dorchester Tennis Club which all the children enjoyed. There is some information about the club attached to the newsletter.
We also enjoyed some wonderful musical recitals this week from some of the children who are learning to play violins, cello and flute here in school. They did a marvelous job with only a short time to practise.
Community police officers visited Squirrel Class to talk about what the police do. The children enjoyed seeing the police van and hearing the sirens! Owl class were simultaneously visited by PC Michael Dix who spoke to them about their responsibilities and choices.
